One Rule

There’s one simple rule or guideline to follow: Blog often - at least every month. If your blog has not been updated in the past two months, it is presumed “dead” and will be removed from the blogroll.

If you take an extended hiatus from blogging and find that your blog is no longer on the blogroll, this could be why. All you need to do is send an email giving notice of your return to blogging.

The reason for this is simple: blogging, as a whole, is undergoing its “tire-kicking” phase, as people try out the medium, perhaps find it isn’t what they thought it would be, and subsequently deleting or leaving their blogs behind.

The main reason people read blogs is to find content. Readers usually want fresh content, so when they visit a blog that has not been updated in a few months, they tend to not want to re-visit it again in the near future.

To remedy this, the blogroll is arranged so the most recently updated blogs appear near the top.

If you are updating your blog, and it is not appearing at the top of the blogroll that same day, your blogging software may not be pinging the blogrolling.com service. This is not likely to happen with Blogger, but it can happen. Usually, it is users of Word Press users who have this problem.

If this is you, send me an email.
